IWC Portuguese Yacht Club Chronograph (Volvo Ocean Race Edition)

Heres a one-off special edition of IWCs popular new Portguese Yacht Club model. The launch of this watch coincides with the official start of the Volvo Ocean Race 2011-2012, an exciting around-the-world race covering over 39,000 miles through some of the worlds most treacherous waters. Compared the new-original Yacht Club (see the Portuguese Yacht Club, introduced 2010, HERE), this watch features a few things of note: first, it is the first IWC Portuguese Yacht Club with a titanium case, and second, it has a black carbon fiber dial. As for me, I find this watch to be so-so as I am not a big fan of the style/shape of the chronograph pushers on the Ref. 3902. Maybe sailing fans see it differently, though. How about you?

    Ponzi Schemer Bernie Madoff and his wife’s Belongings Auctioned

    U.S. Marshalls Service on November 13th held an auction at the Sheraton New York Hotel & Towers, where Ruth Madoff’s 10.5 carat diamond ring brought in the big bucks. This was actually an auction of the belongings of Ponzi schemer Bernie Maddof. Mrs. Maddof’s diamond ring was sold for 550,000, while her diamond earrings went for over 100,000. Apart from these two jewels, other items belonging to Ruth Maddof were also sold, and they brought in a total of $2million. Bernie Maddof’s Rolex “Moon Phase” also went under the hammer for $67,500. A Steinway & Sons grand piano also brought in $42,000. The couple’s king-sized bed went for $2,250. Who bought the bed? Tally Wiener, the lawyer who helped liquidate Fairfield Sentry, a fund, which fed money into Madoff’s accounts before going under. He said he will offer the bed to Mrs. Madoff.     Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Eight Days Perpetual 16124SQ Watch Available On James List

    Back in 2007 Jaeger-LeCoultre expelled this Master Eight Days Perpetual calendar (ref. 16124SQ) watch - as well as it still looks beautiful today. With an original cost of about $100,000 , there have been (relative) deals to be found today. The skeletonized black 'frosted' transformation is amazing to demeanour at, but you'll have to forgive the pattern for creation we hunt the bit for all the report which we have available upon the dial. The transformation tone is essentially due to ruthenium, as well as there have been pure discs all over the dial. Set in the 41mm wide 18k pinkish bullion "Master" pick up case, the watch nicely mixes classical Jaeger-LeCoultre cultured with the visible seductiveness of the complicated style skeletonized movement. Legibility is maintained through use of bullion hands as well as hour markers which contrast with the gray alternative elements which have been great.
