SIHH 2012: Piaget Altiplano Skeleton Automatic

Heres an early look at the 2012 Piaget Altiplano Skeleton Automatic. When it is unveiled in Geneva next January, the watch will be the worlds thinnest automatic skeleton with the worlds thinnest automatic skeleton movement. In my book, Piaget is the King of Thin, always bringing out these absolutely wafer-thin timepieces which really are amazing (recall as last years Piaget Altiplano Automatic). The movement in this watch the Piaget Caliber 1200S is a mere 2.40mm thick. This lends itself to an overall case thickness of just 5.34mm. You gotta love the attention to detail and design contrasts in this watch observe how the blackened (rhodium-finished) hour/minute hands, screws, and platinum micro-rotor contrast against the brushed, flat white gold surfaces which themselves are finished with polished angles (edges) it really is a case study in beauty. This watch will be hitting the market sometime in 2012, and until then I dont expect firm pricing , but expect something near $60,000.

    Ponzi Schemer Bernie Madoff and his wife’s Belongings Auctioned

    U.S. Marshalls Service on November 13th held an auction at the Sheraton New York Hotel & Towers, where Ruth Madoff’s 10.5 carat diamond ring brought in the big bucks. This was actually an auction of the belongings of Ponzi schemer Bernie Maddof. Mrs. Maddof’s diamond ring was sold for 550,000, while her diamond earrings went for over 100,000. Apart from these two jewels, other items belonging to Ruth Maddof were also sold, and they brought in a total of $2million. Bernie Maddof’s Rolex “Moon Phase” also went under the hammer for $67,500. A Steinway & Sons grand piano also brought in $42,000. The couple’s king-sized bed went for $2,250. Who bought the bed? Tally Wiener, the lawyer who helped liquidate Fairfield Sentry, a fund, which fed money into Madoff’s accounts before going under. He said he will offer the bed to Mrs. Madoff.     Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Eight Days Perpetual 16124SQ Watch Available On James List

    Back in 2007 Jaeger-LeCoultre expelled this Master Eight Days Perpetual calendar (ref. 16124SQ) watch - as well as it still looks beautiful today. With an original cost of about $100,000 , there have been (relative) deals to be found today. The skeletonized black 'frosted' transformation is amazing to demeanour at, but you'll have to forgive the pattern for creation we hunt the bit for all the report which we have available upon the dial.
