Boston Red Sox Billionaire Falls Down Superyacht Steps

An elaborate staircase on a superyacht is par for the course these days. Designers try to outdo one another with floating structures, integrated atriums, and all kinds of ultra-expensive materials. Sometimes however they end up being better to look at than actually walk on. We assume thats the case with Boston Red Sox owner John Henry, who recently visited the local hospital after tumbling down the stairs of his 164-ft. Feadship Iroquois. The yacht was docked in Boston at the time and an ambulance was summoned to escort the billionaire following the mishap. Luckily for him he wasnt seriously injured.

Henry, who made his fortune through his hedge fund J.W Henry & Company, had already listed the vessel for sale at $28.75 million. Built in 1998 by Feadship in Aalsmeer, Netherlands and refit in 2006, yacht features a sophisticated exterior design and engineering by De Voogt. The yachts interior was designed by Glade Johnson Design with luxury accommodation for up to 10 guests in 5 suites along with 11 crew members. She has a cruising speed of 15 knots, a max speed of 16 knots and a range of 4,700 nm at cruising speed. Luxe touches include a music studio and gym.
