At RM Auctions return to Monaco on 10th 12th May for its biennial sale at the Grimaldi Forum, coinciding with the 8th Grand Prix de Monaco Historique, the renowned firm will be presenting an elite, handpicked selection of motorcycles (more on that later) and 80 collector automobiles. In order to cope with all the covetable consignments he 2012 event has been extended to two sale days with an auction preview planned for the 10th May. Topping the vehicle list so far is a stunning competition-bred1968 Alfa Romeo Tipo 33/2 Daytona, chassis number 75033-029, expected to fetch up to about $1.5 million.

One of a select few built for the 1968 international season, the superb and highly-original example boasts one of the few vetted racing histories by marque experts, who state that it was driven to victory at the 500 km Imola race by racing luminaries Nino Vaccarella and Teodoro Zeccoli, in addition to performances at Monza, Targa Florio and Zeltweg, among other events. Described as one of the best and most original examples in existence, it is on the button and ready to go, both road registered and an active participant in a variety of leading historic events in recent years.
