UP FOR AUCTION: A Particularly Great Bart Simpson Submariner

I have sung the praises of the Bart Simpson Submariner before, and thought I would share with you a particularly great example coming up for auction next week at Christies in Geneva. This one has everything you want to see. A gorgeous dial with that funky Bart Simpson coronet, beautiful lume with a golden patina to match the gilt printing, a faded bezel insert, and all in what looks to be an unpolished case with original beveled edges. As an added bonus, it comes with a period correct expandable rivet bracelet that was likely originally paired with the watch. This is one fantastic Sub and the winning bidder will no doubt be very pleased.

Bart Subs are one of the underappreciated vintage Rolex watches and are at a price comparable to or even less than a new Submariner, but with a lot more character and a lot more upside. Click here for more information.

U.S. Marshalls Service on November 13th held an auction at the Sheraton New York Hotel & Towers, where Ruth Madoff’s 10.5 carat diamond ring brought in the big bucks. This was actually an auction of the belongings of Ponzi schemer Bernie Maddof. Mrs. Maddof’s diamond ring was sold for 550,000, while her diamond earrings went for over 100,000. Tally Wiener, the lawyer who helped liquidate Fairfield Sentry, a fund, which fed money into Madoff’s accounts before going under. He said he will offer the bed to Mrs. Madoff. Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Eight Days Perpetual 16124SQ Watch Available On James List

Back in 2007 Jaeger-LeCoultre expelled this Master Eight Days Perpetual calendar (ref. 16124SQ) watch - as well as it still looks beautiful today. With an original cost of about $100,000 , there have been (relative) deals to be found today. The skeletonized black 'frosted' transformation is amazing to demeanour at, but you'll have to forgive the pattern for creation we hunt the bit for all the report which we have available upon the dial. The transformation tone is essentially due to ruthenium, as well as there have been pure discs all over the dial. Set in the 41mm wide 18k pinkish bullion "Master" pick up case, the watch nicely mixes classical Jaeger-LeCoultre cultured with the visible seductiveness of the complicated style skeletonized movement. Legibility is maintained through use of bullion hands as well as hour markers which contrast with the gray alternative elements which have been great.
